Welcome to my new happy place!
Embarking on a journey to break free from perfectionism and the blank page—where creativity thrives through play and exploration.
Time for the beginnings of conquering fears by launching a newsletter that explores art making and creativity—join me as I venture into new horizons.
Let me just start by saying, that writing doesn't come easy to me. I really struggle with it, so finishing any post on any social media platform takes me forever (I wish I was kidding, but I am not). I have the ability to rewrite anything over 100 times and yet, I battle to gather the confidence to post it out there. It’s faster for me to complete a painting in a few hours than to write any post—and I’m not exaggerating.
So why bother? Well, I actually do enjoy writing, despite it not flowing effortlessly for me. Also, I have something to share, and I have a feeling it might spark some creativity in your day.
Creating art doesn't always come naturally to me either. Still, by committing to a regular practice I’ve been able to unlock hidden creativity within me and waiting to be explored and expressed.
And so, creative challenges have been key in showing me that building a creative habit starts with knowing why you are doing it, and adding some fun makes the journey more interesting.
I mean, it took me almost a decade-long hiatus without picking up a paintbrush to rediscover the joy of painting. Facing the toughest challenges of my life and yearning for change, little did I know that reigniting my passion for art would become the missing piece—I didn't even realise I needed it (without wanting to sound overly dramatic). Long story short, art became a powerful catalyst, healing me in ways I couldn't have imagined, and infusing my life with purpose.
Art can unlock hidden treasures, deliver HAPPY SURPRISES, and awaken the creative depths within us.
So here I am, still on a journey of self-discovery, committed to sharing tips, and valuable insight, that will hopefully help boost your creative juices and let your imagination run wild. It’s also about creating a space where we can connect and make art together because making art on your own can be a lonely place.
Join me as I explore new places, always creating on the go, igniting self-expression, and embracing the joy of art-making. Whether you're a seasoned artist or new to art, there's no judgment or "not good enough" here.
Expect happy surprises and the freedom to make art without second-guessing. Subscribe to embark on this exciting creative journey together!
A little about my creative journey:
After a long break from painting, feeling stuck and tired in my online coaching and video editing world, I craved a creative change.
I was stuck in a rut, feeling disconnected and exhausted from my online coaching and video editing gig. But guess what? Art came to my rescue!
After almost a decade without picking up a paintbrush, I decided to challenge myself. I started creating art every day for 30 days, and it changed my life. It became my lifeline, helping me reconnect with my creativity and find solace.
But that's not all! Inspired by my progress, I embarked on a 100-day art challenge. I shared my artwork on Instagram, letting go of perfection and embracing the playful process. It was incredible! My art journey became a shared experience, and I discovered the joy of creating without constraints.
From rock bottom to a whirlwind of art-filled adventures, I can honestly say I can’t imagine life without making art.

Your paintings are BEAUTIFUL 😍 😍
Hi Susan, lovely to discover your new Substack. Writing (and my art!) isn't always straight forward for me either. I regularly spend hours and hours reworking my posts, changing a word here or a word there, over and over. Yes on Instagram too! 😂 I'm really hoping to increase my art practice and create more.
